The Mount Vernon Junior League is offering golf instruction for teenagers from local golfer and PGA Tour Canada champion TT Crouch at the Mount Vernon View Golf Course from June 2 through July 21.
Last year, 28 local youth golfers took advantage of the instruction. Crouch is an assistant coach for Mount Vernon Nazarene’s golf team, and he said he wants to share the golfing experience locally.
“My goal is to give back to the community because the community gave me so much growing up,” Crouch said. “I grew up playing Junior League, and I want kids to have the same experience I did.”
Crouch played community golf in Mount Vernon as a teenager, played golf for and graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 2010 and received a full scholarship to play golf at Florida Southern College, where he won back-to-back Division II national championships, before turning pro. He won the Ohio Open in 2016 and was 2018 PGA Tour of Canada champion.
The Junior League will run every Thursday from 10 a.m. - noon starting June 2 and ending July 21 and is limited to 30 players (boys and girls) ages 10-18. Instruction will focus on putting and chipping, basic swing mechanics, the rules of golf and on-course play. The Vernon View Golf Course is at 901 Beech St. in Mount Vernon. The cost is $20 and parents can contact Crouch at 740-504-3108 or email him at tcrouchgolf@yahoo.com to sign their child up or if they have any questions.
This year’s Junior League sponsors are Wendy’s, Savage Pools and Patios and Mount Vernon GMC.
