Ladies take two during 2022 opening dayFORT MYERS, Fla.

A rare Sunday evening match at Jasper Tennis Center concluded with a lopsided 9-0 victory for the Kenyon College men’s tennis team, which dominated the visiting Hornets of Kalamazoo College. A day earlier, at the Jasper, the Kenyon College women’s tennis team fell to the Southwestern University Pirates, 5-2.

Kenyon’s men’s and women’s lacrosse teams started the season in high-scoring fashion, as each squad delivered 16 goals in their 2022-opening victories.

Just one year ago, the Kenyon College softball team toiled through a pandemic-shortened season with a stripped down roster of just 11 players. The season ahead, however, is a completely different story as the Ladies have a full slate of games scheduled and a roster size almost double the size of last season’s.

Saturday’s senior day saw the Kenyon Ladies nipped at home as time wound down, while the Lords traveled to Crawfordsville, Indiana and ran into a second-half buzz saw.

Kenyon Women win NCAC Swimming and Diving Crown, Men finish secondThe Kenyon women topped the team standings for the 27th time as competition wrapped up on Saturday night at the 2022 NCAC Swimming & Diving Championships at the Trumbull Aquatics Center on the campus of Denison University.

Earlier this season, the Kenyon women’s basketball team faced off Oberlin College, one of the best teams in the NCAC, and took them to overtime before suffering a tough loss. In the rematch on Wednesday night, the Kenyon Ladies did not have enough firepower to get past the Oberlin College Yeowomen. At 17-2, the Yeowomen have put together an incredibly strong season and continued their dominance at Tomsich Arena to cruise to an 82-49 victory.

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio – Competing against a large field of teams Saturday, the Kenyon College Ladies held their own in distance and field events during the Steemer Showcase, an unscored indoor track and field meet at Wittenberg University, while the Men’s team (Lords) found sledding a bit rougher.

Leading by as many as 10 points, the Kenyon College women’s basketball team couldn’t hang on Wednesday night at The College of Wooster. The host Fighting Scots outscored Kenyon, 40-28, in the second half to record a 71-68 North Coast Athletic Conference win.

Kenyon’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept a double-double meet Saturday at Steen Aquatic Center. Ania Axas and Jennah Fadely each won two events Saturday and steered the Kenyon College Ladies swimming and diving team to a double-dual home sweep, and the Kenyon College Lords swimming and diving team won 15 of 16 events and defeated both their opponents.

Kenyon Ladies hold off Terriers, 69-63After holding a 15-point lead at one point in the first half, the Kenyon College women’s basketball team held on to beat Hiram College, 69-63, Wednesday.

Lords finish second at Wooster Quad. In their indoor first meet of the 2022 calendar year, the Kenyon College men’s track and field team finished second at the Wooster Quad. Ladies take third at Wooster. Returning to action for the first time since December 4, the Kenyon College women’s indoor track and field team scored 109 team points Saturday and finished third at The College of Wooster Quad Meet.

Kenyon Women and Men Lose tough ones on the court After leading by five at halftime, the Kenyon College women’s basketball team couldn’t find an offensive rhythm in the second half as they fell to Ohio Wesleyan University 82-62.

Returning to competition for the first time in nearly three weeks, the Kenyon College Lords struggled to find their shooting stroke and dropped a 77-66 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) basketball game to the visiting Oberlin College Yeomen on Jan. 8.

In the Kenyons Ladies' last game of calendar-2021, on day-two of the Smokey Ballenger Classic hosted by Otterbein University, the Kenyon College women’s basketball team fell in a close match against Mount Saint Joseph University, 74-70, despite fourth-quarter heroics and a career-game on both ends, by Katie Orefice.

Three Kenyon soccer players receive scholar honors. Two collegiate soccer organizations announced winners of scholar-athlete awards and Kenyon College was represented by two women and one man on the honor lists.

For the first time since 1989, the Kenyon College football program has a head coach hired from within its current staff. Jill McCartney, Kenyon’s Director of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation, announced on December 23, that Ian Good, previously the team’s defensive coordinator, was hired as the Lords’ next head coach.

Lords end 2021 sesson on high note with 68-49 win oiver WaynesburgGAMBIER, Ohio -- The Kenyon College men’s basketball team tightened the screws on defense Monday and came away with a 68-49 home win against the Waynesburg University Yellow Jackets. The game, a non-conference contest, was the final one of the 2021 calendar year for Kenyon, which will head into the new year with a 2-9 overall record. On the other side of the court, Waynesburg saw its win streak halted at four games and its record fall to 6-3.The Lords leaned on defense and rebounding to pull out the win.

One of the fastest growing sports in the world, Ultimate (commonly referred to as Ultimate Frisbee) has exploded in popularity on college campuses over the past two decades. This year, both Kenyon College club Ultimate teams qualified for the Division III College Championships, which began Friday in Norco, California. SERF, the men’s team, played against TRON from Brandeis University, while Blu-Ray, the women’s team, took on Union, from Tennessee.
