A rare Sunday evening match at Jasper Tennis Center concluded with a lopsided 9-0 victory for the Kenyon College men’s tennis team, which dominated the visiting Hornets of Kalamazoo College. A day earlier, at the Jasper, the Kenyon College women’s tennis team fell to the Southwestern University Pirates, 5-2.

Earlier this season, the Kenyon women’s basketball team faced off Oberlin College, one of the best teams in the NCAC, and took them to overtime before suffering a tough loss. In the rematch on Wednesday night, the Kenyon Ladies did not have enough firepower to get past the Oberlin College Yeowomen. At 17-2, the Yeowomen have put together an incredibly strong season and continued their dominance at Tomsich Arena to cruise to an 82-49 victory.

Kenyon’s men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams swept a double-double meet Saturday at Steen Aquatic Center. Ania Axas and Jennah Fadely each won two events Saturday and steered the Kenyon College Ladies swimming and diving team to a double-dual home sweep, and the Kenyon College Lords swimming and diving team won 15 of 16 events and defeated both their opponents.

Lords finish second at Wooster Quad. In their indoor first meet of the 2022 calendar year, the Kenyon College men’s track and field team finished second at the Wooster Quad. Ladies take third at Wooster. Returning to action for the first time since December 4, the Kenyon College women’s indoor track and field team scored 109 team points Saturday and finished third at The College of Wooster Quad Meet.

Ian Good moves into head coach role for Kenyon football

For the first time since 1989, the Kenyon College football program has a head coach hired from within its current staff. Jill McCartney, Kenyon’s Director of Athletics, Fitness and Recreation, announced on December 23, that Ian Good, previously the team’s defensive coordinator, was hired as the Lords’ next head coach.

The game, a non-conference contest, was the final one of the 2021 calendar year for Kenyon, which will head into the new year with a 2-9 overall record. On the other side of the court, Waynesburg saw its win streak halted at four games and its record fall to 6-3.The Lords leaned on defense and rebounding to pull out the win.
Kenyon College places 2 teams in Ultimate Frisbee Championships

One of the fastest growing sports in the world, Ultimate (commonly referred to as Ultimate Frisbee) has exploded in popularity on college campuses over the past two decades. This year, both Kenyon College club Ultimate teams qualified for the Division III College Championships, which began Friday in Norco, California. SERF, the men’s team, played against TRON from Brandeis University, while Blu-Ray, the women’s team, took on Union, from Tennessee.
