MVNU Receives Five-Star Gold Institution Honor and Kenyon Owls chalk up another academic award

As a result of being nominated for and winning the North Coast Athletic Conference's (NCAC) 2023 Don Hunsinger Award, recent Kenyon College graduate Mart Niehoff advanced as one of two conference nominees for the Division III Commissioners Association (D3CA) Men's Sport Student-Athlete of the Year award.

Lucian Li, a rising sophomore and member of the Kenyon College lacrosse team, died Tuesday from injuries sustained in a car accident that occurred late last week in his home state of Pennsylvania.

Kenyon College student-athletes represented the Owls with distinction in spring sports, with 15 being honored in athletics and 22 recognized for academics.

Two Kenyon College men’s track athletes finished the season with North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Outdoor Track and Field titles, with Tapiwa Gono Phiri and Riley Orth winning for the second straight year.

The Kenyon baseball team went 21-14 and was 8-8 in conference action, tying for fourth place, but missed out on the NCAC post-season tournament due to tie-breakers.

With a starting lineup that typically contains seven players who are first-years or sophomores, the young Kenyon College softball team is guaranteed to endure some growing pains this season.

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Kenyon College men’s tennis team whipped up two wins Wednesday, starting its spring break schedule on the right foot. In the morning, the Owls held off No. 23-ranked Carnegie Mellon University, 6-3. In the afternoon, they chalked up a 5-2 win over NCAA Division I Loyola University Maryland.

The 2023 Kenyon College softball season, which gets underway Sunday, March 5, with a slate of spring break games in Florida, presents a very new landscape for the Owls.

The Kenyon College men’s indoor track and field team set a school record in the 4x400-meter relay and a quartet of Owls women teamed up to secure a first-place finish in the distance medley relay.

Kenyon men and women competed at The College of Wooster’s Fighting Scots Invitational indoor track and field meet Saturday, and grabbed two gold medals.

The unbeaten Kenyon College men’s basketball team kept up its winning ways, improving to 3-0 with a 60-50 victory against Grove City College (1-2). The Owls scored on the first possession en route to scoring the game’s first six points and never looked back in the wire-to-wire win over the Wolverines.

The teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The Kenyon College women’s basketball team could not continue its unbeaten start to the season, falling 60-49 on the road against Capital University.
