The Kenyon College football team finished off the 2022 campaign Saturday with a 49-12 loss at Denison University. The results cemented the Owls’ final records at 3-7 overall and 2-6 within North Coast Athletic Conference play.

Kenyon College sophomore Alem Duratovic scored three times Friday and lifted the Owls to a 6-1 victory over the Greenville University Panthers in the rain-soaked first round of the NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Tournament at Mavec Field.The first-round win was Kenyon’s ninth-straight in national tournament play and it improved the team’s record to 17-1-1.

The Kenyon College women’s basketball team opened its 2022-23 campaign with a final-seconds victory on its home court. Kenyon, competing for the first time as the Owls and under the leadership of a new coaching staff, earned a 55-54 win over Defiance College thanks to a shot with five seconds left, by Katie Orefice.

The Kenyon College women’s soccer team earned a massive win over rival Denison University (4-8-4, 3-1-2 NCAC), securing a 2-0 shutout on their home turf. The win propelled the Owls to the top of the North Coast Athletic Conference standings and gave Kenyon the inside track for a regular-season championship.

Kenyon made an impressive second-half comeback for the third week in a row, overcoming a 17-7 deficit with four second-half touchdowns to hand Hiram College (1-6, 1-5 NCAC) a 34-31 defeat. The Owls outscored Hiram 20-0 in the third quarter before capping the win with a fourth-quarter comeback to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in the North Coast Athletic Conference contest.

Kenyon took three consecutive shots over the next few minutes, including two on-target attempts, as they looked to pull even early, but Jackie Thompson, Hailey Moss, and Jenna Michel came up empty as Hanover’s keeper secured two saves.The Owls bounced back and made it a 1-1 game in the 19th minute.

Named in honor of the Zulu warrior king, the former Kenyon College star guard, and current Marquette University men’s college basketball head coach made it a household name nationally in 2011, and it was a local one a dozen years before that.

The No. 8-ranked Kenyon College men’s soccer team wasted little time Saturday afternoon in gaining a lead, expanding it and rolling to a 7-0 road win over the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum University.The victory ran Kenyon’s record to a perfect 6-0 and improved the team’s goals per game average to 4.17, which is a top-10 mark among all NCAA Division III teams. On the other side of things, the shutout was the Kenyon defense’s third in a row.

The upcoming 2022 season will certainly bring a lot of change for the Kenyon College women’s cross country program. The Owls enter their schedule with a trimmed-down roster, as well as a new coach.
