GAMBIER – Lucian Li, a rising sophomore and member of the Kenyon College men's lacrosse team, died Tuesday from injuries sustained in a car accident that occurred late last week in his home state of Pennsylvania.

In an email delivered Wednesday morning to the Kenyon campus, Celestino Limas, Kenyon's Vice President for Student Affairs, wrote: "Lucian was someone who sought out all that Kenyon had to offer in his time with us. Lucian was a KEEP scholar and member of the men's lacrosse team, as well as a caring friend to many here at Kenyon. Moments like this are felt deeply by our community because of how close we are as a campus, and we mourn for Lucian's family and friends who are experiencing such a devastating loss.

“We extend our sincere condolences to Lucian's family and we would like to offer support for those members of the Kenyon student body who are affected directly or indirectly by this news. We encourage you to seek support with each other and through campus resources. Please keep Lucian and his family close to your hearts and we ask that you respect the privacy of Lucian's family at this time."

Li played in three games for the Owls as a freshman defender as the team finished 15-3 and 7-1 in NCAC games. He scored his first goal in a game against Wabash.
