GAMBIER – Four student-athletes from the Kenyon College volleyball roster were picked as honorees on the 2022 Academic All-District Volleyball teams, determined by College Sports Communicators (CSC).

The selections recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.

The quartet of Owls were Ellie Luciani, Paige Milhon, Macy Reimbold, and Eras Yager. The four seniors helped Kenyon more than double its win total from 2021 to 2022. The team finished 5-21 and won its opening-round matchup of the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Tournament before bowing out in the quarterfinals.

To be eligible for the honor, a student-athlete had to be a starter or important reserve who played in at least 50 percent of the team’s games. The student-athlete had to be on the team’s active roster for at least two years and, most importantly, had to own at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average.

Luciani, who majors in both Spanish and economics, played in 16 of Kenyon’s 26 matches while starting seven. Across 51 sets, the defensive specialist ranked third on the team in digs per set (2.96) and fourth in overall digs (151).

Milhon, a molecular biology major, earned a spot on the All-NCAC Second Team after notching strong numbers in 88 sets across 25 matches and 23 starts. The middle hitter led the NCAC in blocks per set (1.07), totaled the second-most blocks (94), and had a top-10 hitting percentage (.241).

Reimbold, an economics major, paced Kenyon’s offense while starting 18 of 26 matches and playing a team-high 95 sets. The outside hitter led the Owls in kills (221), kills per set (2.33), and aces (21) while racing up the second most digs (261).

Yager, a biology major, played in 25 of 26 matches with 18 starts. Across 84 sets, the right side set career-highs across the board this season while ranking third on the team in blocks (42) and fifth on the team in kills (75).

The Academic All-District honorees now advance to the CSC Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late December.
