The Centerburg Trojans rolled to an 11–1 victory in a home non‑conference matchup against Westerville South on Saturday.
The game was played on Saturday, March 21, at Centerburg’s home field.
Centerburg controlled the game from the opening pitch, scoring three runs in the first, four in the second, and four more in the third to build an 11–0 lead before the Wildcats managed their lone run in the fifth. Junior slugger Sydnee Schoonover fueled the offensive surge with a dominant 2-for-3 performance that included two home runs and two RBI, while senior Abby Herren delivered a perfect day at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a homer, three runs scored, a walk, and two stolen bases. Sophomore Jazmyn Larimore added another blast with a solo home run as part of a flawless 1-for-1 outing, reaching base all three times. Freshman Grace O’Quinn chipped in a hit, an RBI, and a stolen base, and Kallie Webb, Briley Cline, and Morgan Beaver each added key hits to round out Centerburg’s nine-hit attack. The Trojans’ patience was equally impactful, drawing seven walks to post a .593 team on-base percentage. On the mound, Beaver set the tone with three shutout innings, striking out five without issuing a walk, while Cline closed the final two frames with two strikeouts. Defensively, Centerburg was flawless, committing no errors and turning a double play, while Westerville South struggled with one miscue and managed just five hits, two of which came from Alexis Evans and two from Nora Bellomy. The Trojans’ blend of power, discipline, speed, and clean fielding underscored their dominance in a wire-to-wire victory.
Up next, Centerburg shifts back into conference mode with a home showdown against Northmor on Tuesday, April 7 at 5:15 p.m., a matchup that already carries the weight of recent history and the promise of another statement opportunity for the Trojans.
Last season, Centerburg didn’t just edge the Golden Knights—they owned the series, taking both road games in convincing fashion. The Trojans opened with a 5–2 win on April 2, 2025, then returned the next day and delivered a commanding 12–0 shutout on April 3, 2025, a back‑to‑back sweep that underscored Centerburg’s grip on the rivalry heading into this year’s first meeting.
