Northridge’s varsity girls basketball team powered past Zanesville in a conference matchup, taking a 59–49 win on Saturday.
The game unfolded at Zanesville High School on Feb. 14.
From the opening tip, Northridge controlled the tempo and dictated the pace, using a 15–10 first‑quarter advantage to establish early momentum. Zanesville made its strongest push in the second quarter, trimming the margin with a brief scoring run, but Northridge’s defensive poise and ability to generate stops prevented the hosts from gaining full traction. After halftime, the Vikings seized command with a decisive 17‑point third quarter, stretching the lead and creating the separation they needed. Their consistency across all four quarters ultimately proved to be the difference.
Offensively, Northridge leaned on its top two scorers to carry the load. Cora Hill poured in 23 points, attacking the lane and finishing through contact, while Ava Travis added 24, giving the Vikings a balanced, relentless one‑two scoring punch. As a team, Northridge finished with 18 made field goals, shooting 38 percent overall and 41 percent from the line, converting key possessions when it mattered most. Their defensive pressure and ability to close out long rebounds helped seal the victory.
With the win, the Lady Vikings closed the regular season at 14–7, marking one of the program’s strongest finishes in more than two decades.
Northridge hosts Elgin on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 7 p.m. in a home tournament matchup as the Vikings look to advance.
The teams last met on Dec. 30, 2023, when Northridge claimed a 57–50 win in a home nonconference game.
