The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's lacrosse team opened its 2026 season with a decisive victory over Thiel University. The game, held at the Rissell-Schreyer Dome in Greenville, Pennsylvania, ended with a score of 24-4 in favor of MVNU. By halftime, the Cougars had already secured a substantial lead of 17-0.

Ethan Haney was instrumental in the win, scoring seven goals. Dylan Haynes contributed significantly with seven assists and one goal. Connor Kistner added three goals to the tally, while Chase Lawler recorded two goals and three assists. Sawyer Byington also provided four assists.

On defense, Trent Luptak collected nine groundballs and Angelo Elia gathered seven. Zechariah Gee was flawless in faceoffs, winning all 16 attempts. Vaughan Hawkins made three saves as the goalkeeper for MVNU.

Looking ahead, MVNU is set to face Hiram College on February 7 at 1:00 p.m.
