The Mount Vernon Nazarene University women's basketball team faced a challenging match against the University of Saint Francis, ranked sixth nationally. The game took place on January 24 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Despite an early lead by MVNU with a layup from Angela Roshak, USF quickly gained control and ended the first quarter ahead at 19-14.
USF extended their advantage in the second quarter with a 10-3 run, closing the half at 45-26. The third quarter saw USF further increasing their lead with an 8-0 run, ending the period at 61-39. The final score was 86-51 in favor of USF.
MVNU's performance included shooting percentages of 33.3% from the field and 22.6% from three-point range. In contrast, USF shot 55.2% overall and made an impressive 61.1% of their three-point attempts.
Kylie Leibacher led MVNU with 11 points and seven rebounds, while Lily Shepherd also contributed 11 points along with five rebounds. Anna Swisshelm added ten points to the team's effort.
The Lady Cougars will next play against Huntington University at Ariel Arena on January 28 at 5:00 p.m.
