Mount Vernon Nazarene University's women's basketball team secured a win against Goshen College in a conference game held at Ariel Arena. The Lady Cougars, now 6-12 overall and 2-6 in the conference, began the game strongly with Anna Swisshelm scoring early points. Despite Goshen's efforts to close the gap, MVNU maintained control throughout the match.
Kylie Leibacher contributed by converting an offensive rebound into points, while Lily Shepherd's three-pointer before halftime helped MVNU maintain a lead of 32-26. In the third quarter, Melodie Blubaugh hit consecutive three-pointers, allowing MVNU to extend their advantage to 50-40. The Lady Cougars reached their largest lead of 19 points in the fourth quarter and finished with a 67-54 victory.
MVNU's performance was marked by efficient shooting, achieving 46.3% from the field and 38.1% from beyond the arc. Lily Shepherd led with 18 points, eight assists, and five rebounds. Anna Swisshelm added 14 points and six rebounds, while Melodie Blubaugh scored 12 points off the bench. Angela Roshak contributed with ten points and seven blocks.
The Lady Cougars will next face Taylor University on January 17 in Upland, Indiana. Mount Vernon Nazarene University is a private Christian institution offering education to nearly 2,200 students across various programs.
