The Mount Vernon Nazarene University men's basketball team faced a challenging game against Indiana Wesleyan University, ranked 10th nationally. The match took place at Ariel Arena on January 7. Both teams were evenly matched in the first half, with MVNU briefly taking the lead after Abib Abib's impressive slam dunk. However, IWU managed to close the first half with a 10-3 run, leading 41-34.

In the second half, IWU extended their lead with a strong performance, eventually securing a decisive 91-66 victory over MVNU. IWU's shooting accuracy was notable, achieving 53% overall and 46% from three-point range. In contrast, MVNU shot 33% from the field and 25% from beyond the arc. Isaiah Brown led MVNU with 22 points, followed by Devin Dreier with 13 points and Abib Abib contributing 10 points.

Coach Ronai commented on the team's performance: "IWU was terrific in spurts tonight. Against a team of that caliber, you can’t have extended lulls." He noted that while the game was competitive initially, IWU capitalized on key moments.
