Students at the East Elementary School will be having a busier but wonderful end of October as the school holds its Book Fair and Costume Parade. The Scholastic Book Fair, which will run through the first week of November, will kick off on Friday, Oct. 31, the same day as the Costume Parade will be held.

East Elementary dubs the book fair as "the best day of the year," and invites students and parents to participate.

"Get ready–the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school! Find bestselling series and characters that students love from more than 100 publishers," the school stated in an announcement.  "Plus every purchase benefits our school. We hope you can join us for the Best. Week. Ever!"

The second event for Oct. 31 will start in the afternoon. In a newsletter, East Elementary announced that the Costume Parade "will hopefully take place outside on the sidewalk around the school." As part of the safety protocol, parents are advised to enjoy watching their kids across the road.

"By working together, we can assure the children will have an educational, safe, and enjoyable day," the school noted.

To create a happier and safer environment, East Elementary has established guidelines regarding costumes and personal items that students will be bringing to school. Costumes that depict violence or include violent themes are strictly prohibited. Additionally, children should not arrive at school wearing their costumes.

Parents are also reminded to consider the items their children bring to school carefully. Toys may be lost, stolen, or damaged during the event. To avoid disappointment or disruption, families are encouraged to leave valuable or sentimental items at home.

Sadly, the parade will not proceed if weather conditions are unfavorable, according to East Elementary School.
