Mount Vernon Middle School will host its fifth annual Veterans Day Breakfast on Wednesday, November 12 at 8:30 a.m. The event is open to all veterans and their families in the community as a way to recognize their service.
Students and staff who have a veteran attending are invited to join them for breakfast. The event will be led by students, with participation from eighth-grade Social Studies classes, Band, Orchestra, and the Work & Family Life program.
In preparation for the breakfast, the school community will engage in activities such as creating decorations, supporting fundraising efforts, and participating in learning activities about Veterans Day during Social Studies classes. Organizers say these efforts aim to help students understand the importance of service and civic responsibility.
"We believe this is an important opportunity for our students to learn the value of service, gratitude, and civic responsibility," organizers stated.
