Ruth Hodges, a long-time supporter of Mount Vernon Nazarene University (MVNU), has died at the age of 95. Her life was marked by dedication to her faith and a commitment to Christian higher education.
Together with her late husband, Ralph Hodges Jr., who passed away in 2021, Ruth contributed significantly to MVNU. The couple supported student scholarships and were instrumental in establishing the R.R. Hodges Chapel/Fine Arts Center on campus. This facility is recognized as a central place for worship and spiritual gatherings at MVNU.
The chapel has served as an important space for students, faculty, and staff over the years. It is known for being a setting where many have experienced moments of personal transformation and renewal.
Dr. Carson Castleman, President of MVNU, said: "We thank God for the lives of Ruth and Ralph Hodges, for their example of faithfulness, and for the way their legacy will continue to shape generations of students who seek to learn and serve in the name of Jesus Christ."
The university community acknowledges the ongoing influence of Ruth and Ralph Hodges through their contributions and leadership.
