Frances K. (McMahon) Murphy, 80, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on Friday, September 12, 2025.

Farn was born on October 22, 1944, in Mount Vernon to the late Raymond “Pete” and Jean (Servais) McMahon. A proud 1962 graduate of Mount Vernon High School, she was active in numerous school activities and remained close to her classmates through the M&M’ers—a cherished group of friends who continued sharing laughter and adventures over five decades of lunches, dinners, and travel.

Fran dedicated more than 25 years to State Farm Insurance, working at the Ohio Regional Office in Newark, where she began in Data Processing and retired from Agency Training. Her professionalism and warmth forged lifelong friendships that extended far beyond her career.

A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Fran always put family first. She was a constant presence at her children’s and grandchildren’s sports, school, and life events—her support unwavering. She shared countless happy years with her husband, Michael K. Murphy, an Ohio State graduate, bonding over their love for Buckeye football and basketball, Rose Bowl trips, Alaskan cruises, and cross-country travels.

Fran is survived by her son, Brad Murphy of North Carolina; sister, Kathy Lapp; and niece, Renee Lapp. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael K. Murphy, and her parents.

Calling hours will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home, 619 E. High Street, Mount Vernon, Ohio. A private family graveside service will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice, whose caring staff were “supporting angels” in both Fran and Mike’s journeys to their heavenly Father.
