Abraham Carl Harrod, of Mount Vernon, Ohio went home to be with his Lord and Savior, unexpectedly, on November 2, 2025.
He was born on November 5, 1985 to Brad and Jane Harrod, of Mount Vernon, Ohio. He grew up on the family farm, along with his brothers Ben and Zak Harrod. They filled their growing up years with hard work, practical jokes and lots of time spent with family, and his Brandon Baptist Church family. Abe always excelled in academics, graduating from Northridge High School and graduating with honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and a minor in business. There he found a passion for powerlifting. Hard work and training earned him many honors and awards. It was at OSU that he met his love and biggest helpmate Laura Jack. They were married for 16 years and together they built a life, a business, Quality Kitchen Renovations, and most importantly a family. Aside from God and Laura, their three children, Lydia, Renee and Samson, were the most important things in his life.
While Abe may have spent many years fighting his own demons, that never stopped him from taking the time to listen to somebody else who was struggling and offering any advice. He found joy in time spent with Laura and his children, and many hobbies including working with his hands, firearms, Jujitsu with his gym mates and kids, rubix cubes, his Mazda rx7/8s, and being “Uncle B.” His contagious, belly laughter will always be remembered.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laura (Jack) Harrod, three children Lydia, Renee and Samson, his parents Brad and Jane Harrod, siblings Ben (Abby) Harrod, Zak (Caitlin) Harrod, a grandfather Bob Harrod, nieces and nephews (Ben, Evie and Elyse Yehsakul and Ty, Kendall, Emma and Ava Harrod) and many other family members.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents Carl and Mary Snyder and Paulette Harrod.
Friends and family may pay their respects at Calling Hours and a Celebration of Life which will be held on November 14, 2025. Calling hours will start at Noon with the Celebration of Life service starting at 2P.M. All services will be held at Brandon Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, Ohio. The family will hold a private burial.
Memorial Contributions may be made via GoFundMe and will be used to lessen any financial burdens that come Laura’s way as they arise in the weeks and years to come. https://www.gofundme.com/f/stand-with-the-harrod-family-in-their-time-of-need.
