Barbara Miller Gibson of Mount Vernon, Ohio passed away on October 21, 2025.
Born in Lorain, Ohio, she was the third daughter of Frank and Irene Miller on December 27, 1935. She graduated from Lorain High School in 1953. Barbara was proud of her Hungarian/Austrian heritage, but adopted The Irish as her second nationality.
Her interests were varied, ranging from traveling, sewing, gardening, decorating, collecting antiques, playing golf, bridge, and being a member of P.E.O., Sorosis, Quester’s, Alpha Gamma Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, Town and Country Garden Club and St. Vincent de Paul Parish. She and five others opened the antique shop, Crickets on South Main in April of 2017. She enjoyed her treasured friendships with Judy, Kathy, and her Texas group the ABCGS’s.
They were the kinds of friendship in which you might not see each other for long periods of time and yet be able to pick up right where you left off, they were so special.
She was so proud of and so in love with her family, especially her children Christine Miller and Joshua Gibson, five granddaughters Shelby, Maddie, Ella, Phoebe and Zoe, two sisters Frances Mikulich and Vivian Lijewski, along with nieces, nephews and cousins. The older Barbara got, the more she enjoyed those close to her. She felt very special and so enjoyed their company. Besides her husband John, she is preceded in death by her son Quentin, who died too young.
Her family wishes to thank the staff of Brookdale Senior Living and The Ohio Eastern Star Home for their loving care they provided her in the last years of her life. They would like to extend a special thank you to Capital City Hospice for their kind, compassionate and professional care during her last days.
If you would like to make a donation in Barbara’s memory, please consider Capital City Hospice or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Visitation will take place on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm at Flowers Snyder Funeral Home located at 619 E. High Street in Mount Vernon.
