The game was held on October 3 at Watkins Memorial High School in Pataskala, Ohio. With this road victory, the Yellowjackets improved their season record to 5-2.

According to reports, after trailing 21-7 in the second quarter, Mt. Vernon mounted a comeback driven by a consistent rushing attack and a determined defensive effort. Landon Dawson scored with a short rushing touchdown, followed by Mason Richards' score just before halftime, which reduced the gap to seven points. The Yellowjackets gained momentum in the third quarter by recovering an onside kick and then tying the game with a touchdown pass. Shortly thereafter, defensive lineman Nolan White returned a Watkins Memorial fumble for 15 yards, scoring a touchdown that gave Mt. Vernon the lead permanently.
