Mount Vernon City Schools announces fall orchestra concert featuring student musicians

The Mount Vernon City Schools Orchestra program will hold its Fall Orchestra Concert on Wednesday, October 15 at the Mount Vernon High School Theater. The event will feature performances by both middle school and high school student musicians.

The concert is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM with the Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Orchestras. The High School Prelude and Symphony Orchestras are set to perform starting around 7:30 PM. According to organizers, each group has prepared a program that combines classical pieces with modern selections.

The lineup for the evening includes "Gap of Dunloe" and "Mythos" performed by the 7th Grade Orchestra; "Overlords," "Sahara Crossing," and "The 31st Day of Oktober" by the 8th Grade Orchestra; "Frontier Phantoms," "Sneaking Suspicion," and "Bran Castle" by the Prelude Orchestra; and "Wire Choir Workout," "Night on Bald Mountain," and "Thriller" by the Symphony Orchestra.

Organizers encourage community members to attend in support of the students’ efforts. “This special night will showcase the talent and dedication of our middle school and high school student musicians.The concert will begin at 7:00 PM with the Middle School 7th & 8th Grade Orchestras. Following their performance, around 7:30 PM, the High School Prelude & Symphony Orchestras will take the stage. Each group has been working diligently to prepare a program that blends classical traditions with modern, energetic selections that are sure to entertain audience members of all ages.”
