The Ohio sales tax holiday for 2025 will take place from August 1 at 12:01 a.m. through August 14 at 11:59 p.m. The two-week event is designed to help families prepare for the upcoming school year by making purchases of clothing, supplies, and other items more affordable.

During this period, most tangible personal property priced at $500 or less will be exempt from sales tax. The extended duration of the holiday allows families additional time to shop for necessary items. Further details about which products qualify for exemption can be found on the Ohio Department of Taxation Sales Tax Holiday FAQs and Exemptions page.

Families looking for specific school supply lists can find them posted on their student’s school building website.
