Work continues at Mount Vernon’s softball field as the Yellow Jackets conclude a memorable and historic season. Although progress on the field faced some delays due to persistent rain, few would trade the pause for what the team accomplished on the diamond.
According to recent reports, the Yellow Jackets captured both a district and regional championship this spring before advancing to the Division II state championship game. Though they finished as state runner-up, the program’s postseason run marked one of the most successful in school history.
Despite being a few weeks behind schedule, updates to the Jackets’ home field are steadily moving forward. The Mount Vernon community continues to support the program, both in its postseason success and its future at the improved facility.
With the construction timeline back on track, the Yellow Jackets are already looking ahead to next season—this time with fresh momentum and a refreshed home field.
