Maddy Payne delivered an impressive performance, going 4-for-4 at the plate to lead the Danville Blue Devils to a decisive 10-0 victory over East Knox on Tuesday.
According to the game summary, Payne singled in the first, third, fourth, and sixth innings as Danville amassed 12 hits in their shutout win. She also contributed by driving in a run and stealing multiple bases. The Blue Devils established control early, scoring twice in the first inning with a sacrifice fly from Abi Sapp and an RBI single by Payne. They added another run in the second when Alicia Humphrey drew a bases-loaded walk.
In the third inning, Taylor Johnston and Addison Mickley each delivered RBI singles, extending Danville's lead to 5-0. Sapp finished with three RBIs despite recording just one hit in three at-bats.
Humphrey earned the win on the mound for Danville, pitching six shutout innings. She allowed two hits while striking out five and walking two. East Knox starter Ava Faucett took the loss after giving up 10 runs—nine of which were earned—over five innings. She walked six batters and struck out one.
Mickley and Johnston each recorded multiple hits for Danville. Humphrey, Merista Brown, and Mickley all drew two walks each, contributing to the team’s total of six walks. The Blue Devils stole six bases and turned one double play while playing error-free defense. Ruby Bartok led defensively with eight chances in the field.
For East Knox, Cloe Tucker and Lydia Hill each had one hit while batting consecutively in the lineup.
Danville is scheduled to host Licking Valley on Thursday.
