Danville dominates Loudonville in 14-0 victory

Danville flexed its offensive muscle in a 14-0 rout of Loudonville on Friday, powered by a 15-hit outburst and a shutout performance in the circle.

The Blue Devils struck early, plating two runs in the first inning. Merista Brown drove in one with a sacrifice fly, and Alicia Humphrey added an RBI single down the left field line.

Danville broke the game open with a six-run second inning, highlighted by six extra-base hits. Brown tripled, Humphrey, Ruby Bartok, Addy Bocock and Taylor Meade all doubled, and Abi Sapp added an RBI groundout.

The offensive onslaught continued in the third, with five more runs crossing the plate. Addison Mickley launched a solo homer to left, Humphrey doubled in a run, Bartok blasted a two-run homer to center, and a Redbirds error brought in another.

Humphrey earned the win, tossing five shutout innings. She allowed three hits, struck out four and didn’t issue a walk. Alesha Felix took the loss for Loudonville, surrendering 14 runs — 12 earned — in four innings.

Humphrey and Brown each tallied three hits, while Bartok and Humphrey drove in three runs apiece. Mickley and Bocock also recorded multi-hit games.

Danville hosts East Knox on Tuesday.
