Addy Bocock delivered a standout performance, striking out 10 batters and pitching a complete-game shutout to lead the Danville Blue Devils to a 5-0 victory over the Centerburg Trojans on Monday.
According to the game report, Bocock was nearly untouchable, allowing just one hit and three walks over seven innings. The right-hander kept Centerburg scoreless while securing her 10th strikeout in the final inning.
Danville established an early lead in the bottom of the first inning. Alicia Humphrey doubled to left field, scoring one run, followed by Ruby Bartok's RBI single to center, giving the Blue Devils a 2-0 advantage.
Maddy Payne extended Danville's lead in the third inning with a run-scoring single. Abi Sapp added to the tally with a solo home run to left field in the fourth inning, making it 4-0. The Blue Devils secured their win with an additional insurance run later in the game.
The team collected 11 hits overall. Payne and Merista Brown each contributed three hits, while Humphrey added two. Bartok drove in two runs and went 1-for-3 at bat.
Brown also excelled defensively with 10 chances as Danville played without errors in the field.
Morgan Beaver started for Centerburg, conceding four runs on 10 hits through five innings. She struck out five batters and walked one. Jazmyn Larimore recorded Centerburg's only hit, finishing 1-for-3.
