Donna Lee Porter Brown of Gahanna, Ohio and Punta Gorda, Florida was born April 16, 1940, in Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Donna passed peacefully in hospice at age 84 on Feb.12, 2025.
She was preceded in death by husband, Richard Thomas Brown, brother Lawrence Conking, and parents Donald Doyle Porter and Golda Lenore Wise Porter.
Surviving are Jennifer Lynn Brown Nave (Allen) of Dayton, Ohio and Jodi Suzanne Brown Ware (Shane) of Thornton, Colorado; Lauren Lee Ware of Boulder, Colorado and Jackson Thomas Ware of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Donna graduated as a Yellow Jacket from Mount Vernon High School in 1958, where she proudly played the alto horn in the marching band. She greatly enjoyed working at First Knox National Bank in Mount Vernon as a teller.
Lovingly, Donna served as a homemaker for many years, before taking on a second career at Bank One in Columbus (now Chase). She enjoyed cross stitch embroidery, crocheting, and making jewelry and handmade cards.
Her other lifelong joys included reading and book club, biking, riding in her Mustang convertible, and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Donna and Tom spent many years “wintering” in Burnt Store Colony in Punta Gorda, where they swam, did water aerobics, dominoes, shuffleboard, Saturday donut hour, many dances, and, of course, made many new friends. Donna loved getting to know people by talking with them.
She will be remembered lovingly as a loyal friend, dutiful wife, and exceptional mother and grandma.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the medical personnel at Ross Heart Hospital as well as the Rhoads Hospice Wing at the OSU Wexner Center in Columbus.
A Celebration of Life service for Donna Brown will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10 a.m. at Mifflin Presbyterian Church, 123 Granville Street, Gahanna Ohio. A meal will follow the service.
