Four standout players from Mount Vernon High School’s baseball team have announced their commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. Kayden Packard, Ezra Kurek, Zac Clow, and Jagger Dohn will be taking their talents to Walsh University, Eastern Michigan University, Mount St. Joseph College, and Tiffin University, respectively.
Kayden Packard, a pitcher and third baseman, has been a key contributor for the Yellow Jackets. During his junior season, Packard posted an impressive .354 batting average and a .460 on-base percentage (OBP), collecting 40 hits overall. His combination of offensive and defensive skills made him one of the team’s most valuable players. Packard will continue his baseball journey at Walsh University, where he will join their program as he works to elevate his game further.
Ezra Kurek, a catcher, has also shown significant growth on the field. In his junior season, Kurek hit .364 and played in 25 games, collecting 28 hits. His defensive abilities behind the plate, combined with his offensive production, earned him the attention of Eastern Michigan University, where he will continue his athletic career. Kurek’s commitment marks an important step in his development as a player, and his leadership on the field has been crucial to the Yellow Jackets’ success.
Zac Clow, a shortstop, has been another key player for Mount Vernon. Clow posted a .327 batting average with a .420 OBP in his junior season, accumulating 51 hits. His consistency at the plate and his defensive play in the middle infield made him an important asset to the team. Clow’s hard work has earned him a spot at Mount St. Joseph College, where he will continue to refine his skills and take his game to the next level.
Jagger Dohn, a pitcher and first baseman, has shown strong potential for the Yellow Jackets. As a junior, Dohn recorded a .286 batting average with a .289 OBP and 12 hits. His versatility, both as a pitcher and position player, made him a valuable contributor to Mount Vernon’s success. Dohn will continue his athletic career at Tiffin University, where he will have the opportunity to showcase his skills and develop further as a player.
Mount Vernon head coach Nate Hunt praised the dedication and hard work of his players. “These young men have earned the opportunity to play at the next level, and I couldn’t be more proud of them,” Hunt said. “Their success is a testament to their commitment both on and off the field.”
The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets are excited to see these talented athletes represent their school at the collegiate level, and their hard work serves as an inspiration for future players.
