The East Knox Bulldogs picked up their first win of the season with a 43-36 victory over Heath on Tuesday, led by a strong all-around performance from their sophomores.
Malena Streby paced East Knox with 12 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists, while Isabelle Bostic added 10 points and 4 rebounds. Senior Sydney Opfer contributed 7 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 blocks, and fellow sophomore Ava Faucett chipped in 6 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 steals.
East Knox head coach Mandy Todd praised her team’s effort after the hard-fought win.
“It was a great team win for us. Heath is a very aggressive, well-coached team. We were excited to get our first win and will hopefully keep this momentum going into the beginning of KMAC play next week,” Todd said. “Overall, I’m so proud of the girls for their effort, unselfish play, and great attitudes.”
With the victory, East Knox looks to carry their momentum into next week’s KMAC play as they aim to build on their early-season success.
