The Knox County Genealogy Society will host a special speaker on Feb. 19 at the COTC building downtown at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend – no fee involved. 

Cheryl Brown Abernathy, a researcher with over 40 years of experience, will speak at the meeting. Abernathy is a life member of the Ohio Genealogical Society and has held several positions within OGS, including trustee, vice president, and conference co-chair. She has chaired OGS’ Settlers and Builders of Ohio lineage since 2010 and is also the registrar for her DAR chapter. Abernathy is a life member of several of her local chapters and an officer in several.

This year, she will be doing several presentations at the annual OGS Conference in April. She will speak on lineage societies at this meeting. The Knox County Genealogy Society invites the public to consider joining the society if you are interested in your family tree.

The society meets on the third Monday evenings of February, May, August, and November at the COTC building downtown at 7 p.m. Besides a local library full of local research helps, we have a First Families of Knox County Society, if you can prove your ancestor lived in Knox County by Dec. 31, 1830. We are also willing to help you with your family research. Our library is open by appointment only – just call Jim at 740-324-0183, Suzy at 740-504-9117 or Ernie at 740-625-5926.
