The Mount Vernon City Schools Board of Education is set to accept $545 in donations to Dan Emmett Elementary School in memory of Sandra Hatton, according to the agenda for its upcoming Monday meeting.

These donations have been made by ten individuals, businesses, and families in honor of Hatton, as detailed in the Mount Vernon City Schools meeting agenda for Dec. 18.

According to a tribute archive posted by Snyder Funeral Homes, Hatton retired from Mount Vernon City Schools in 2007 after a 30-year tenure as a truancy officer. Her funeral service took place on Dec. 5 at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home in Mount Vernon, with her burial at Mound View Cemetery. The obituary requested memorial contributions in her name be made to Dan Emmett Schools.

The donations varied from $10 to $150 and included two anonymous contributions, as per the Mount Vernon City Schools meeting agenda for Dec. 18. The named donors were the Fredericktown School Board & Central Office; Jane, Paul & Diane Simmons; CES Credit Union; Hohl Family Trust; Jason Marley; John & Marie Brandt; Emily Marth; and Michael & Susan Link.

The Mount Vernon City Schools meeting agenda for Dec. 18 also listed other donations up for acceptance. These included 13 new coats and eight pairs of new tennis shoes from Dr. Michelle Carpenter to Columbia Elementary School, an anonymous donation of $100 for unpaid lunches at Twin Oak Elementary School, a "tub full" of winter hats and gloves from Pat Porter to the school district, and clothing for students from Dave Culbertson and Howard Hanna for Dan Emmett Elementary.
