Trooper Geiger reports to Mount Gilead Post after academy graduation

Trooper Brooklyn Geiger | Ohio State Highway Patrol

Trooper Brooklyn M. Geiger began her first assignment on Sunday at the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol following her graduation from its 176th Academy Class on June 20.

According to a news release, Geiger was among 18 graduates who completed 28 weeks of training. The courses covered crash investigation, criminal and traffic law, detection of impaired drivers, firearms, physical fitness, self-defense, and emergency vehicle operations.

The release also said that Assistant Director Benjamin B. Suver of the Ohio Department of Public Safety and Col. Charles A. Jones, Patrol superintendent, delivered remarks during the graduation ceremony. State Representative Haraz N. Ghanbari gave the commencement address, while Fairfield County Court of Common Pleas Judge David A. Trimmer administered the oath of office.

Trooper Jason B. Bohla from Findlay Post was selected as class speaker and expressed gratitude to the Academy and cadet family members for their support during training.

Four graduates received special honors for top performance in their respective fields of study: Trooper Brent T. Wilson from Chardon Post for overall performance; Trooper Micah S. Flatt from Wooster Post for academics; Trooper Ethan G. White from Dayton Post for driving; Trooper Gabriel Q. Combs from Wapakoneta Post for firearms; and Trooper Brent T. Wilson again from Chardon Post for physical fitness.

Mount Gilead native Jason B. Bolha also graduated from the academy and reported to the Columbus Post. The release noted that the new troopers' first 70 working days will be a field-training period under the guidance of a veteran officer.
