The Centerburg Trojans (11-1, 5-0) made it eight straight wins with a sweep over KMAC rival Cardington-Lincoln (5-4, 2-2) on Tuesday night.
Centerburg dominated all three sets, starting with a 25-10 win in the first set. The Trojans went up 2-0 on a Kennedi Glenn ace and never looked back. They jumped out to a 24-10 lead on a block/kill by Julia Orndorf, and then she won the set with another block/kill.
The Pirates put up more of a fight in the second set, but the Trojans were still able to walk away with a convincing 25-17 win. The set was tied 7-7 until Glenn smashed a spike for a kill to go up by one. The game tied again at 8-8 but Glenn struck again with a kill on a spike set up by Clara Johnson. With the game tied 10-10, Stella Weisbrod made it a one-point lead for the Trojans again on a kill. Glenn secured the set win on a kill. Riley Skillman had a pair of blocks in the set, showing off her defensive skills at the net.
The third and final set was a lopsided victory for Centerburg, 25-11. Alyssa Harris had a key kill to go to set and match point, and the match was secured on a Stella Weisbrod ace.
Weisbrod was the top offensive player for the Trojans with 12 of the team’s 32 kills. She led the team with four aces and 10 digs. Glenn and Johnson split the setting duties with 15 and 10 assists respectively. Glenn recorded six kills and four aces while Johnson added four aces and a dig. Katelyn Johnson was solid on defense with nine digs and three aces, and Orndorf recorded five kills to go with her seven digs, two blocks, and an ace
Cardington-Lincoln was led by Lily Clark, who tallied 10 kills, two blocks, and six digs. Lundyn Belvins and Rylee Donkin were both solid on defense with 14 digs and eight digs respectively. Autumn Holt had seven kills, three digs, and an assist. Abby Ufferman has five digs, one block, one ace, and a kill.
