Following up on April’s “We’re all out of bubble gum” professional wrestling event at the Mount Vernon Armory, put on by A2W (Addicted 2 Wrestling) and The Escape Zone, a Christ-centered, multi-denominational organization that provides “a fun, friendly, safe environment for all youth,” pro wrestling is back in the ring next weekend.
A2W presents, “The Last American Dream,” featuring Jake Crist vs. Sless “Sless is More” Taylor, Saturday, July 29 at The Escape Zone, One Mansfield Ave. in Mount Vernon. Doors open at 6 p.m. and “bell time" is 7 p.m. All tickets are $15 plus a $2.85 administrative fee for Eventbrite.com. US veterans are free with military ID. For each ticket sold, $2 will go to Knox County Honor Guard. The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and the Drill and Ceremonial Team is a group of men and women who have dedicated their time to the memories of fallen heroes. The Guard assists any agency with funeral details, including death watch, firing party, 21-gun salute, taps, flag and memorial presentations, as well as presentations of colors at local and community events.
Event promotional material suggests that guests “get ready for an adrenaline-pumping evening of professional wrestling,” and, “Brace yourself for an unforgettable night of high-flying action, intense rivalries, and electrifying showdowns that will leave you on the edge of your seat,”
Joining the event is former Impact Wrestling Star Kongo Kong, known in the ring for his raw power, unpredictability and dominance. According to event managers, “Kongo Kong is set to leave a seismic impact on Mount Vernon as he steps foot in the A2W ring.”
The main events pits Wrestling Revolver World Heavyweight Champion "Firestarter" Jake Crist, defending his title against “any challenger who dares to step up and battle him for the belt.” Known for his fiery determination and skills, Crist is expected to face off against “Sless is More."
“Additionally, A2W's own roster of superstars is set to make their presence felt, unleashing their unique fighting styles and captivating personalities," A2W co-partner/owner Brandon Garver said. "Witness the awe-inspiring athleticism of Sless Taylor, the power and intensity of Izzy Lambert, high-flying daredevilry of Dontavio, and the ultimate classic southern wrestling experience that is The After Midnight Express.”
Garver said the event promises to be a feast for the senses, featuring pulse-pounding action, spine-tingling excitement and larger-than-life personalities that will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.
“Don't miss out on this incredible night of professional wrestling. Grab your friends, bring your energy, and be a part of the electrifying atmosphere as these talented athletes go head-to-head in a battle for glory,” Garver said.
The A2W association with The Escape Zone and Terry Walter, owner of the Mount Vernon Armory and a director on the board of The Escape Zone, goes back several years. Garver worked with Walter at The Escape Zone, which utilizes 13,000 square-feet of Armory recreational space for kids of all ages. The group offers basketball, foosball, ping pong, Nintendo Wii games and a second-floor gym, and engages in feeding the poor. Walter is also a member of the Knox County Honor Guard and proceeds from this event are earmarked for the Guard. As with the last show, $2 from every ticket goes to the Honor Guard, and a donation box at the event will also invite proceeds for The Escape Zone.
