MOUNT VERNON – Attorney Scott Pullins announced he is exploring a second run for an Ohio House seat for the 2024 election.

The Knox County Republican leader fell 684 votes short of his primary opponent in August 2022, he noted in a press release. Rep. Darrell Kick had served three terms in Ohio House District 70 but was redistricted to District 98 in 2022, winning the primary and election to the seat.

Pullins said he is exploring another race because, as in the previous election, state legislative districts are not yet set and could drastically change. Kick currently represents Ohio House District 98, including most of Knox County, and Coshocton and Holmes counties. However, he will not be able to run again because of term limits. This, in theory, would create an open seat, but new districts must be redrawn.

“I am clearly the most conservative candidate looking at this race,” Pullins said in the release. “Unlike others, I have over three decades of work fighting for lower taxes, medical freedom, the Second Amendment and for liberty.”

Pullins is an Ohio attorney, political consultant and writer.

He is the co-founder of the Ohio Taxpayers Association, a charter school board member and an elected member of the Knox County Republican Central Committee, for which he formerly served as chairman and vice chairman. He is also a former vice chairman of the Knox County Republican Executive Committee.

He attended Ohio University and earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Ohio State University. He earned his juris doctorate from Capital University Law School.
