EK’s Streby and Severt dominate 3200M but Jackets own their invitational 

The MV boys team won nine events at the Jackets Invitational at Mount Vernon High School on May 5. Clear Fork won four, East Knox won two, and Centerburg and Danville won one each. In girls events, Mount Vernon again dominated with 12 gold medals, East Knox won two, and Centerburg won one. Some of the margins of victory were huge, especially in the 3200-meter runs in which Bulldog runners Nathan Streby and Taylor Severt each took home gold by more than half a minute. For the winning Mount Vernon teams, Jack Craigo, Sarah Phillips, and Marissa Sutter each won a pair of individual gold medals.

East Knox’s Nathan Streby owned the 3200-meter run, winning by 47.29 seconds with a time of 9:50.21. Centerburg’s Ethan Jackson took silver and Mount Vernon’s Landon Rush took bronze.

Mount Vernon took four events with gold-silver finishes. Logan Eggert and Eric Marofsky finished 1-2 for MV in the 800-meter run, with Eggert winning by 9.83 seconds in 1:58.66. Logan Whitney of East Knox edged teammate Edward Russo for third. Yellow Jacket teammates Matt Salvucci and Jojo Ernst finished 1-2 in the 1600-meter race, with Salvucci owning a 13.72-second margin in 4:36.03. MV’s Jack Craigo took the top spot on the podium in the 110M hurdles in 16.49, 0.85 seconds ahead of teammate Dominic Fuscaldo. Danville’s Jacob Hackman was third. Hunter Looney and Brady Wiles went 1-2 in the 300M hurdles, with Looney’s 42.38 coming in 1.61 faster than Wiles. East Knox’s Seth Madden was third.

Mount Vernon won three relay events – 4x100, 4x200, and 4x400, with East Knox capturing the 4x800 race.

Mount Vernon’s Mason Richards was second in the boys 100M dash and Danville’s Jackson Lloyd was third. Lloyd won silver in the 200M and MV’s Ethan Young won third. Young moved up to second in the 400M and East Knox’s Hayden Baker was third.

In field events, Jack Craigo won his second gold with a high jump of 5’6”. Teammate Maddox Snyder was third. Sami Lacksonen was MV’s top finisher in the long jump with a third–place finish.

Mount Vernon swept the podium with a 1-2-3 finish in the pole vault. Ben Fitzpatrick vaulted 8 feet for the win; Landon Rush was second and Ethan Conant was third.

Centerburg struck gold with Mason Lanthorn, who won the discus on a throw of 140’2”. Danville’s Bryer Boeshart was second and MV’s Luke Mullins was third. Danville also gained a gold medal; Bryer Boeshart won the shot put with a heave of 43’9.5”. MV’s Devlin Hager was third.

Girls top finishers

In girls events, Lady Jacket Sarah Phillips won back-to-back sprint golds. Phillips won the 100M dash by 0.14 with a time of 13.01. Teammate Amaris Middleton was third. Phillips also won the 200M dash with a time of 26.21 to win by 1.13 seconds. Centerburg’s Evie Stowe was third.

Macie Fawcett won the 400-meter dash for East Knox in 1:02.93, which was 0.42 faster than Mount Vernon’s Sydney Statler. MV’s Ava Burson was third.

Lady Jacket Lucy Rush won the 800M run in 2:35.15, besting teammate Alex Couch by 2.45. East Knox’s Adrian Clutter was third. MV’s Couch got her gold medal in the 1600-meter run, with a 3.07-second victory in 5:41.94. Centerburg’s Payton Tucker was second and East Knox’s Taylor Severt was third. EK’s Severt got her gold with a huge 33.98-second victory in the 3200-meter run; her time was 12:36.05. MV finished 2-3 with Ainsley Bonaudi (second) and Emma Phillips (third).

Mount Vernon’s Marissa Rutter won the two hurdles events, taking gold in the 100M in 15.86 to win by 2.39 over Danville’s Heloisa Vasquez. Rutter doubled by winning the 300M hurdles in 49.79, a 6.34-second margin over teammate Zoey Morrison, and Danville’s Heloisa Vasquez was third.

Mount Vernon won three relays, 4x100, 4x200, and 4x300, and East Knox took the 4x800 relay.

In field events, Centerburg’s Tiara Sheppard won the high jump at 4’6”. Mount Vernon’s Khadija Ndow was second and Centerburg’s Holly Fields was third. MV’s Bailey Thayer’s leap of 14’6” won the high jump over teammate Elizabeth Lebold (second) and Danville’s Heloisa Vasquez (third). Lady Jacket Brooklyn Thayer won the discus with a toss of 129’5”; she won by 20’11” over teammate Nevaeh Williams (second) and EK’s Isabella Grennell (third). MV’s Williams won gold in the shot put by 1’7” with a throw of 35’8”. EK’s Isabella Grennell was second.

Mount Gilead boys finish second and girls take bronze at Indian Invite

Mount Gilead finished second in the boys division and third in the girls segment at their home Indian Invitational on May 6. Mount Gilead’s Loey Hallabrin took home gold; she won the 800-meter run by 1.39 seconds. Madilyn Elson won gold for the Indians in the 200 meters by 1.61 seconds to give her a 1-2-3 finish day in three events. For the boys, Mount Gilead’s Will Baker won the 3200-meter run by 20.35 and Northmor’s Connor Radojcsics won the pole vault by a full foot.

Mount Gilead finished second with 100 points. Westerville North won with 154.

Northmor was fourth with 65 and Cardington-Lincoln finished 13th with 8.

Boys top finishers

For the boys, Mount Gilead’s Ceegan Moore placed fourth in the 110M hurdles and Indians teammate Wyatt Mowry ran fourth in the 300M hurdles.

Quade Harris of Mount Gilead placed third in the 200M and Mathew Bland of Mount Gilead ran fourth in the 400 meters.

In the 3200-meter run, Mount Gilead placed first and second with Will Baker winning by 20.35 seconds in 9:36.96 and Parker Bartlett finishing second.

Northmor’s Lucas Weaver won bronze with his third-place finish in the 800-meter run. Mount Gilead’s Aaron Gannon was fourth.

Mount Gilead’s 4x100M relay was third with Abram Shonk, Quade Harris, Jonathan Miller, and Matthew Bland.

Mount Gilead earned silver in the 4x200M relay with Owen High, Quade Harris, Matthew Bland, and Logan High.

Northmor finished second in the 4x400 relay with Cowin Becker, Lucas Weaver, Connor Radojcsics, and Bo Landin.

The boys 4x800 relay saw Northmor finish second behind Elgin with the Golden Knights team of Lucas Weaver, Ryan Lehman, David Blunk, and Griffin Healea.

The Mount Gilead girls team was third with 93.5, behind Columbus South (141) and Westerville North (118). Northmor finished sixth with 50 and Cardington-Lincoln was seventh with 33 points.

Mount Gilead placed second and Northmor was third in the Mixed Gender 440M shuttle hurdles. Mount Gilead’s team consisted of Rebeka Clark, Ceega Moore, Darbie Dillon, and Carson Barnum. Northmor’s team was Layla Castle, Parker Brown, Parker, Abby Conant, and A.J.Bower.

In field events, Northmor’s Connor Radojcsics won the pole vault at 13’6” to take the event by a full foot; Owen High placed second for Mount Gilead in the high jump. Matthew Bland placed third in the long jump for the Indians, Joey Baldwin finished fourth in the shot put for Mount Gilead, and teammate Ben Witt was fourth in the discus.

Girls top finishers

In girls competition, Columbus South was the winner (141 points), with Westerville North second (118 points) and Mount Gilead third (93.5 points). Northmor was sixth (50) and Cardington-Lincoln seventh (33).

Madilyn Elson won gold for the Indians in the 200 meters in 27.24 seconds, winning by 1.61 seconds; she ran second in the 400M and third in the 100M dash.

Mount Gilead’s Loey Hallabrin took home gold by winning the 800-meter run in 2:24.84 with a margin of 1.39 seconds. Natalie Hinter of Northmor finished fourth.

In the girls 100M hurdles, Mount Gilead’s Rebeka Clark and Darbie Dillon finished 3-4, and Dillon ran fourth in the 300M hurdles. Kimberly Stacey of Mount Gilead ran fourth in the 1600M.

Mount Gilead’s 4x100M relay team of Grace Shipman, Natalie Waugh, Faith White, and Danielle Pohlkette earned a silver medal.

Mount Gilead’s 4x200M relay team was third with a team of Grace Shipman, Claudia Hernando Montes, Faith White, and Maddy Shonk.

Cardington’s 4x800 team of Loey Hallabrin, Gracie Meade, Morgan White, and Magi Hallabrin finished second to Columbus South. Mount Gilead was fourth with Haley Pfeifer, Ava Baker, Tatum Neal, and Kimberly Staley.

In field events, Mount Gilead’s Danielle Pohlkette was fourth in the high jump, Northmor’s Natalie Hinter was third, and Mount Gilead’s Grace Shipman was fourth in the pole vault. Indian teammate Mikala Harris took home silver in the discus.

Danville wins Gilead Christian Invitational  

Led by two gold medal-winning relay teams, Danville won the Gilead Christian Invitational meet on May 6 with 132 points. Dominion Academy was second with 103. The Blue Devils also won seven silver medals and four bronzes.

For Danville, the Blue Devils won the 4x200 meter relay by 2.27 seconds with Leelynd Railing, Aidan Burke, Josh Byers, and Carson Proper and the 4x800M relay with Bronson Durbin, Landon King, Mason Huffman, and Ashton Spaulding. The Blue Devils’ 4x100 team of Aidan Burke, Nicholas Pontious, William Hollins, and Michael Gallivan took home silver, as did the 4x400M relay team of Ethan Swendal, Caden Hammons, Mason Huffman, and Landon King. 

Leelynd Railing was second in the 100M dash and also won silver in the 200M. Branson Durbin took second and Ashton Spaulding finished third in the 800M run. Caden Hammons was third in the 1600M run and Jonathan Scarbury took home bronze in the 3200M run. Carson Proper was second in the 110M with 39” hurdles. 

In field events, Cody Ricketts tied for second in the shot put and Carson Proper took third in the high jump.
