Mount Vernon 11, Newark Catholic 3
Konnor Daughriety knocked in six runs and blasted a homer to lead the Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets (16-4, 9-3) to an 11-3 win over Newark Catholic (14-5, 10-2) on May 6.
The Yellow Jackets went up 1-0 in the first and then added five runs in the second to make it a 6-0 game. They added another run in the third inning before Newark Catholic scored a run in the fourth and fifth. The Yellow Jackets then added two runs in the fifth and runs in the sixth and seventh innings.
Daughriety was 1-for-4 with a homer, six RBIs and a run scored to lead the offensive charge. Zac Clow had three RBIs on the day. Also knocking in runs were Trevor Buttke, Caden Rowland and Kayden Packard.
Jagger Dohn pitched five innings for Mount Vernon, giving up three hits, two unearned runs and two walks while striking out two batters.
Cardington-Lincoln 6, Mount Gilead 3
Cardington-Lincoln’s (7-7, 5-4) Dillon Minturn was hot at the plate while throwing a gem on the hill, with the senior hurler pitching a complete game to topple Mount Gilead (8-12, 3-7) by a score of 6-3 on May 4.
Minturn allowed seven hits and two earned runs, while striking out three batters. At the plate, he went 3-for-4 and he also had a stolen base. Denton Garrison was the top run producer with a pair of RBIs, while going 2-for-3 with a double. He had a stolen base as well. Wyatt Denney was also hot at the plate going 2-for-3 with a double. He was also hit by a pitch and stole a base. Merek McClure smashed a double, going 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run, while Journey Williamson and Caden Dewitt each had a single and an RBI. Williamson also scored a run and stole a base. The Pirates had a total of 13 hits in the game.
The Indians were led by Judah Reid, who was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Also recording RBIs were Nick Garvey and Mason Barnum. Garvey currently leads the KMAC in RBIs with 21.
Cole Fricke took the loss, going five innings, allowing 12 hits, five earned runs and struck out six batters. At the plate, he was 1-for-2 and he scored a run.
Granville 6, Danville 2
Granville (6-9, 4-6) had an explosion of runs in the middle innings of a game against Danville (6-9, 3-6), and while Reuben Troyer was solid on the mound for the Blue Devils, defensive miscues led to a 6-2 loss on May 4, making it four straight in the "L" column for Danville.
Granville scored three runs in the third and three runs in the fourth, while Danville put a two spot on the board in the fourth. Danville had six hits in the game and three errors, while Granville had eight hits and two errors.
Landon Lyons went 1-for-3 with a pair of RBIs for the Blue Devils. Kendall Carter was 2-for-3 with a run scored. Dustin Beckett scored a run and went 1-for-3. Levi Lyons was 1-for-2 with a walk.
Troyer went all six innings allowing eight hits, six runs with only three earned, three walks while striking out three batters.
Northmor 6, Fremont 0
Grant Bentley got it done at the plate, on the base paths and on the mound to lead the Northmor Golden Knights (14-5, 7-3) to a 6-0 win over Fremont on May 5.
Northmor jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning, and then tacked on two runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth inning.
Bentley pitched a complete game with three hits allowed, while striking out nine batters. At the plate, he was 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and a run scored.
Drew Hammond went 2-for-4 with an RBI, two runs scored and a steal. Cooper Thomas also went 2-for-4 while knocking in a pair of runs. Northmor had eight hits as a team in the win.
Utica 11, Northridge 1
Utica (8-11, 6-8) exploded with 11 runs against Northridge (2-16, 0-12), with Jordan Hartman knocking in four runs to lead the Redskins to an 11-1 victory on May 5.
The Redskins had a 2-1 lead after one inning and then put three on the board in both the third and fourth innings, followed by a two-run fifth and a run in the sixth.
Braxton Fisher pitched six innings and gave up one unearned run, four hits and two walks while striking out three.
Every batter in the starting lineup had a hit for the Redskins, with 14 hits as a team. Hartman was the top offensive performer, going 2-for-3 with a double, a run and four RBIs. Connor Whisner was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Roman Gamble was 4-for-4 with a triple and three steals. Tyler Collura was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs and a run.
East Knox 12, Danville 2
The Bulldogs (11-4, 7-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning and that's the way the score stayed until the fifth. The Bulldogs exploded for 10 runs in the final three innings to cruise to a 12-2 win over Danville (6-9, 3-6) on May 6.
East Knox scored two runs in the first, three runs in the fifth and two in the sixth inning, and then finished with a five-run seventh. Danville scored a run each in the sixth and seventh innings.
Bryar Householder was 1-for-4 with a double and knocked in three runs while scoring a run. Landon Spearman was 1-for-3 and knocked in a run. Caden Wengerd drove in two runs, and went 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Spearman picked up the win and pitched four innings while giving up six hits and striking out three batters.
