Rhodes and Boggs win third flight crown at Doubles Classic

The Mount Vernon High School doubles team of junior Wyatt Rhoades and senior Toby Boggs won the third flight tournament at the Watkins Memorial Doubles Classic on April 15 at WMHS. It was the Yellow Jackets’ only flight championship in the competition.

Rhodes and Boggs defeated teams from Watkins Memorial (8-5), Westerville South (8-4) and DeSales (8-4) to take home their championship medals

Also participating in the tournament for Mount Vernon were: junior Quinn Hoffman and senior Alex Beuhrer (the first flight team that went 0-3 but lost a tough set to DeSales 8-6); sophomore Andrew Conway and junior Pete Lawhon (the second flight team that went 1-2, defeating Westerville South 8-4); and the fourth doubles flight team of junior Reece Schuman and junior Wade Brown that went 1-2, defeating Westerville South 8-3.
