MOUNT VERNON – Charles Arthur Thompson, 83, of Mount Vernon, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, March 10, 2022, at Country Club Retirement Campus.

He was born on Oct. 2, 1938, in Columbus, and was the son of the late George Norman and Neva (Bevis) Thompson.

Charles was a United States Army Ohio National Guard Veteran. He was a workaholic and enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking, cooking and baking.

He is survived by two daughters, Annett (Mark) Allen, Susan (Allen) Lester; a son, David (Lynn) Thompson; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; brother, John “JD” Thompson.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Thompson; son, Lawrence Allen Thompson and a brother, Norman Thompson.

Visitation will be Monday, March 14, from 5- 7 p.m. at Snyder Funeral Home – Lasater Chapel.  Graveside services will be on Tuesday – 11 a.m. in Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens with military graveside honors by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council.
