The Kenyon College women's soccer team landed five members on the 2021 All-North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) team, while seven Kenyon College Lords and coach Chris Brown were named to the 2021 All-NCAC men’s soccer squad.
For the Ladies. Olivia Dion collected first-team honors, while Samantha Hayes and Leah Anderson saw their names added to the second-team list. Sadie Gould and Morgan Baker were honorable mentions.
Dion started every game of her senior campaign, scoring three goals and assisting on four others. The senior midfielder led the Ladies in assists, shots and shots on goal. Dion's 58 shots ranked second in conference, 24 shots on goal ranked sixth, and four assists ranked top-five.
Dion landed first-team honors for the first time. She was named a second-team member in 2019. Hayes, a 2018 honorable mention, becomes a first-time second-team member. Anderson, Gould and Baker all earned their first All-NCAC honors.
Hayes ranked third on the Ladies team in points, shots and shots on goal. The Oakville, Ontario, native tallied four goals, tying for the team lead, while adding an assist during her senior season. Hayes placed 15 of her 33 total shots on goal during her 13 games played.
Anderson's nine shutouts led the NCAC and ranked 10th in the nation. During her 17 games played, she tallied 73 saves, while allowing 14 goals, posting an .839 save percentage. Over the season, Anderson recorded a 0.85 goals-against average. Her saves, goals allowed, save percentage and goals-against average all ranked top-five in the NCAC.
On the men’s side, in addition to the seven Lords honored, the conference named Luke Muther this season’s Defensive Player of the Year. Gerardo Martinez reeled in Newcomer of the Year, and Chris Brown was tabbed NCAC Coach of the Year.
Scott Upton joined Martinez and Muther on the all-conference first team. The NCAC recognized Aidan Burns, Sam Carson, Sam Hosmer-Quint and Sebastian Gaese with second-team honors.
Muther, a 2019 All-NCAC honorable mention, earned Defensive Player of the Year after posting one goal and assisting on four others this season. He helped lead a back line that allowed only 12 goals all season. The Lords’ defense conceded just five goals in conference play, while posting six shutouts.
Martinez recorded 12 points over 16 games during his first-year season. The Houston native found the back of the net four times, including two game-winners, and assisted on four other scoring plays.
Upton, the 2019 NCAC Offensive Player of the Year, scored six goals and assisted on seven others during his senior campaign. Upton ranked second on the team in points, fifth in shots, fourth in shots on goal and third in shots on goal percentage. The senior midfielder’s seven assists ranked second in the NCAC.
Brown earned Coach of the Year for the third time in his career (2015, 2018). He led the Lords through their fourth consecutive unbeaten conference season, which culminated in another 2021 NCAC regular-season title.
