The Ohio All-Central District high school football teams, selected by a media panel from the district, have been announced for the 2021 season. Local teams were well-represented, with 14 student-athletes named to First Team offense and 13 names to First Team defense squads. In all, 55 student-athletes from local high school football programs were selected to receive District honors.

Division II

In Division II, Mount Vernon High School was recognized on defense, with

First-team defensive back – sophomore Jonny Askew, 5-9, 175 and linebacker senior Zach Mullins, 6-3, 215.  

Second-team defense – linemen: senior Jesse Foster, 6-3, 220 and senior Nate Stradley, 6-2, 260.

Special mention went to junior running back-linebacker Evan Owens and honorable mention went to junior strong-safety/quarterback Joel Hubbard.

Division IV

Named to First-team offense – running back was sophomore Dane Nauman (Highland), 5-11, 215;  lineman: senior Turner Harmon (Highland), 6-0, 220; and kicker: junior Caleb Hunter (Highland), 5-11, 150.

On First-team defense, all from Highland – linebacker: senior Matthew Grandstaff, 5-9, 180; lineman: junior Chandler Stevens, 5-10, 195. Special/honorable mention went to CB/RB senior Cody Matthews, 5-7, 160 lbs.

 

Division V

First-team defense – linebacker: senior Brock Wygle (Utica),  5-9, 150. Special/honorable mention went to sophomore wr/cb Gavin Chinn (Utica); sophomore back Tyler Collura (Utica); Dylan Cooperider (Utica); and Jordan Riley (Utica).  

Division VI

First-team offense – quarterback: senior Jack Gregory (Centerburg), 6-2, 190; running back: junior Maxton Lower (Northmor), 6-2, 215;  receiver: senior Paul Butterman (Mount Gilead), 6-3, 175; lineman: senior Duston Sanders (Northmor), 6-8, 315.

First-team defensive backs: senior Marcus Cortez (Northmor), 5-10, 150, junior Tyler Johnson (Centerburg), 6-2, 195; linebacker: senior Garrett Corwin (Northmor), 5- 11, 195; lineman: seniors Alex Johnson (Centerburg), 6-2, 190, and Gavin Whited (Northmor), 6-1, 230; punter: senior Garrett Lamb-Hart (Mount Gilead) 5-10, 155.

First-team defensive backs: senior Shane Knepp (East Knox), 5-10, 155, and sophomore Walker Weckesser (Danville), 5-11, 160.
