County Board of Elections announces registration, early voting deadlines

The deadline for registration and changes of address to vote in the Nov. 2 General Election is Monday, Oct. 4.

The Board of Elections will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for regular business hours, Monday through Friday (except holidays). The board office will be open on Oct. 4 from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.

Absentee/early voting will begin on Tuesday, Oct. 5, 2021 at the Knox County Board of Elections. You can request an absentee ballot application to be mailed to you if you would like to vote from home. 

Deadline for requesting absentee ballots to be mailed out is noon Saturday, Oct. 30. However, we are recommending all request to be submitted by Oct. 26 to ensure enough time for you to receive them in the mail. You can check the status of your absentee ballot at voteohio.gov. 

You are qualified to vote if you are a citizen of the United States; at least 18 years of age on Election Day, a resident of Ohio and registered to vote in the precinct in which you reside at least 30 days before the election. 

You must notify the Board of Elections, in writing, if you change your residence (within this county or from another Ohio County) and/or your name. This can also be done online at voteohio.gov. 

Those wishing to register may apply in person, online, or request to have a voter registration mailed to them. Other than the Board of Elections Office, you may register at the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, Knox County Health Department, Apple Valley Property Owners Office or libraries in Centerburg, Danville, Gambier, Fredericktown and Mount Vernon during regular business hours. You may contact the board office for other locations. 

To be valid, registration forms and all other changes must b completed and returned to the Board of Elections by the close of registration on Oct. 4 at 9 p.m.
