The Mount Vernon City Council voted unanimously, 7-0, for a resolution to appoint Anne Ellsworth to replace Julia Warga on the city Municipal Planning Commission.

The vote was at the Tuesday Sept. 11 council meeting. The resolution was sponsored by Third Ward City Council Member Tammy Woods.

Ellsworth will fill Warga's unexpired six-year term that began on Jan. 25, 2022 and that ends on Jan. 24, 2028,

Warga spent 20 years at Kenyon College, most recently as "director of research and instruction," before taking a position in July as Library Director for John Carroll University in University Heights, in suburban Cleveland.

According to her Linkedin page, Ellsworth has worked for Kenyon College for 16 years, most recently as "Director of Parent Giving."

She's a 2004 graduate of Kenyon, holding a B.A. in Drama.

Members of the Municipal Planning Commission include Mayor Matthew T. Starr (Chairman), Richard Dzik, Todd Hawkins, Austin Swallow, Eric Diehl and Jason West.

Warga also served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Public Library of Mount Vernon and Knox County.

The commission last met on July 13. Warga last participated in the commission's May 13 meeting.
