Republican Scott Pullins has announced his candidacy for the House District 98 seat in Ohio. The Mount Vernon attorney intends to file for the August 2024 Republican primary, according to an announcement. Pullins previously ran against incumbent Darrell Kick in the August 2022 primary and lost by 684 votes.
House District 98 encompasses Coshocton and Holmes Counties, as well as most of Knox County. Pullins expressed concern about the frequent turnover and infighting amongst legislators representing these counties, stating, "It’s made it more difficult to pass our conservative agenda with the constant turnover and infighting."
In addition to his legal career, Pullins has been involved in politics for many years. He served on the Knox County Republican Central and Executive Committees from 1994 to 2008 and resumed his involvement in 2020. Pullins is also a charter school board member, political consultant, and writer.
Furthermore, Pullins has experience lobbying at the statehouse on behalf of taxpayer groups, small businesses, an alternative medical association, an education nonprofit, and wildlife issues. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The Ohio State University and his Juris Doctorate from Capital University Law School in 2003.
Pullins' announcement has set the stage for a competitive race in Ohio's House District 98, as he seeks to secure the Republican nomination in the August 2024 primary.
