KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) recently announced its 2020-21 NABC Honors Court, recognizing those men's collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. Included on the list of honorees were Kenyon College's Ugnius Zilinskas, Christian Watanabe and Elijah Friedman.
In order to be named to the Honors Court, individuals had to be in their junior or senior season, had to possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.2 or better, had to be at their current institution for at least one year and had to be a member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.
Zilinskas, who graduated in May, is now a two-time winner of the award, while Watanabe and Friedman, both juniors during the 2020-21 season, were first-time winners.
In addition to the individual awards, the Lords earned the NABC's Team Academic Excellence Award for maintaining a collective grade point average of 3.0 or better throughout the academic year. The honor marked the eighth time in the last nine seasons that the Kenyon men's academic success was recognized.
