Nick Mitchell got the win on the mound and scored two runs, including the game-winner, to lead KB Tire to a 3-2 walk-off win over Fredericktown Chevrolet to capture the Knox County Babe Ruth League championship on Saturday at Memorial Park.

After Chevrolet tied it up in the top half of the seventh, Mitchell was hit by a pitch. He moved to third on an error and scored on Azland Mason’s fielder’s choice to end it.

Down 2-0, Fredericktown Chevy’s Dalton Lang scored a run in the sixth inning on a passed ball, and Nicholas Hamilton singled to open the seventh and scored the tying run on Cirk Parker’s groundout.

Landon Byrnes tossed four scoreless innings and allowed three walks and two hits around two strikeouts but didn’t factor in the decision. Mitchell struck out six over the final three innings and allowed two unearned runs to score the victory for top-seeded KB Tire.

Kane Sheriff took the hard-luck loss for Fredericktown Chevrolet, seeded second in the tournament. He allowed three runs, one earned, spreading around three hits while striking out five in a complete game.

Mason Mitchell led all with two hits and a stolen base for KB Tire.
