Coed softball roundup: McClusky, Breymeis lead Melick to win in 8

A+ Autobrokers rallied for two runs in the seventh to send its game with Melick Painting Company to extra innings.

A+ took the lead in the eighth, but Melick scored twice in the bottom half of the inning for a 9-8 walk-off win in Mount Vernon City Coed Softball League play on Sunday, May 30, at Memorial Park.

Andrea McClusky and Allie Breymeis had three hits apiece, and George Hess added a pair of doubles to lead Melick.

Dave Murphy and Justin Parker had three hits each for A+. Murphy hit a home run and Parker added two doubles.

Relentless Stealth Land Management 17, Complete Comfort 16

Relentless Stealth Land Management scored a run in the bottom of the seventh to beat Complete Comfort 17-16 on a walk-off.

Cayleb Cole, Colton Landis and Kenny Rucker had three hits apiece to pace Relentless. Cole and Landis each came within a home run of hitting for the cycle.

Nate Orr had four hits, including a double, to pace Complete Comfort.

FitMix 12, Team of Faith 11

FitMix took the lead for good with a three-run sixth inning before holding off Team of Faith for a 12-11 win.

Jeffrey Holdbrook, Randy Swihart and Lauren Nickells had three hits apiece to lead FitMix, which used a seven-run third inning to overcome an early deficit. Holdbrook hit two doubles and Travis Cornell hit a home run.

Matt Ott had four hits, including a double, to pace Team of Faith.

Elevate Insurance 19, Wedgewing Family Restaurant 16

Elevate Insurance scored five runs in the sixth inning to outslug Wedgewing Family Restaurant 19-16.

Mickey Altizer and Trey Kendrick had five hits each to pace Elevate. Kendrick went deep and Altizer hit a pair of doubles.

Lena Wengard, John Riggins, Josh Verspoor and Zack Verspoor had three hits apiece for Wedgewing. Riggins had a triple and a double, Josh Verspoor had two doubles and Joe Linn hit a home run.

J. Gorsuch Construction 12, Furry Trails 8

J. Gorsuch Construction took the lead with a run in the third and created some distance with a three-run seventh inning to beat Furry Trails 12-8.

Alex Czernewski, Ray Goosetree, Seth Oyster, Emily Buckholder and Sam Walters had two each. Goosetree hit a home run and a triple, Oyster hit two doubles and Czernewski added a double to pace J. Gorsuch.

Lee Caudill had four hits, including a home run, for Furry Trails.

J. Gorsuch Construction 8, Complete Comfort 5

J. Gorsuch scored three runs in the fourth inning on its way to an 8-5 win over Complete Comfort.

Alex Czernewski, Seth Oyster and Logan Smith had three hits each to lead J. Gorsuch, with Cznernewski adding a double.

Michael Vilfer had two hits, including a double, for Complete Comfort.

TJ Thorpe Trucking 12, Liberty Lawn Care 8

TJ Thorpe Trucking rallied for five runs in the sixth inning to defeat Liberty Lawn Care 12-8.

Brandon McLaughlin and Nate Bolander had four hits each to lead TJ Thorpe, with Bolander hitting a triple.

Bryce Geiger had three hits, including a home run and a double, for Liberty.

Relentless Stealth Land Management 13, Presley Construction 6

Relentless broke a 1-1 tie with three runs in the third before exploding for nine runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Presley Construction answered with five runs in the sixth but fell short, 13-6.

Colton Landis, Teddy Hagans and Treg Davis had three hits each to lead Relentless. Landis hit two doubles and a triple, and Davis added a double.

Dylan Colopy, Lexi Doup, Scott Presley and Lexi Curry had three hits each for Presley. Colopy and Curry both hit doubles.

Bad Company 11, Melick Painting Company 4

Bad Company took the lead with a three-run first inning before breaking it open with six runs in the second on its way to an 11-4 win over Melick.

Jordan Burson, Ben Metcalfe and Justin Shaw each had three hits to lead Bad Company. Metcalfe hit a home run and added a double, and Burson had a double and a triple.

Dave Youngless had two hits and Katie Mitchell hit a triple for Melick.

TJ Thorpe Trucking 14, Buckeye Crane 7

Already down 2-0, TJ Thorpe Trucking scored four times in the bottom of the first inning and cruised to a 14-7 win over Buckeye Crane.

Bryce Geiger had four hits, including a home run and a triple, to lead TJ Thorpe.

Owen Miller had three hits — one a double — for Buckeye Crane.

Cunningham Insurance 15, Furry Trails 7

Cunningham Insurance broke a 7-7 tie with four runs in the fifth inning and added four more in the sixth to defeat Furry Trails 15-7.

Jared Scoles, Greg Lawson, Dani Calkins and Mark Poland each had three hits for Cunningham. Poland hit a home run and two doubles, and Scoles hit three doubles.

Lee Caudill went deep and six different players had two hits for Furry Trails.

Honey Buckets Tavern 15, Cunningham Insurance 5 (6)

Honey Buckets Tavern scored six runs in the first inning to roll to a 15-5 win in six innings over Cunningham Insurance.

Katie Spearman, Brandon Davis and Kody Kopenhaven had three hits each for Honey Buckets. Spearman hit a double.

Jared Scoles, McKenzie Fidler and Josh Eckert had three hits apiece for Cunningham. Scoles hit a pair of doubles and Eckert added a triple.

Honey Buckets Tavern 13, FitMix 2 (6)

Tied 2-2 after one inning, Honey Buckets struck for six runs in the second and cruised to a 13-2 win in six innings over FitMix.

Katie Spearman had three hits and Nate Davis added two hits — a home run and a double — to pace Honey Buckets.

Jeffrey Holdbrook had two hits to lead FitMix.

Honey Buckets Tavern 15, Elevate Insurance 3 (5)

Already holding a 4-3 lead, Honey Buckets blew up for 11 runs in the fourth inning to take a 15-3 decision in five innings over Elevate Insurance.

Travis Born cracked two home runs and added a double, and Kody Kopenhaven also had three hits to lead Honey Buckets. Adam O’Bryan and Nate Davis each hit home runs as well.

Liberty Lawn Care 18, A+ Autobrokers 4 (5)

Liberty Lawn Care jumped out to a 7-1 lead after one inning and rolled to an 18-4 win in five innings over A+ Autobrokers.

Nate Bolander and Zack Calabretta had four hits each to lead Liberty. Bolander hit three doubles and Calabretta went deep.

Taylynn Morningstart had two hits for A+.

Precision Floor & Trim 11, Presley Construction 1

Precision Floor & Trim broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the third, then encored with a five-run fourth on its way to an 11-1 win over Presley Construction.

Kate Hernandez, Anthony Miller and Josh Burghard had three hits each for Precision. Burghard hit a home run.

Brianne Presley and Lexi Curry had two hits each for Presley.

Precision Floor & Trim 14, Team of Faith 2 (5)

Precision scored six times in the opening inning and cruised to a 14-2 win in five innings over Team of Faith.

Zack Walls, Brice Patterson and Josh Burghard had three hits apiece to pace Precision. Walls hit a home run and a double, and Patterson and Burghard each hit doubles.

Bad Company 15, Buckeye Crane 1 (5)

Bad Company struck fast with six runs in the opening frame and rolled to a 15-1 win in five innings over Buckeye Crane.

Ben Metcalfe and Jessica Shaw had three hits each to pace Bad Company. Metcalf hit a home run and Kyle Hagerman added a pair of doubles.

Nelson Miller had two hits for Buckeye Crane.

Team of Faith 20, Presley Construction 4 (4)

Team of Faith held a slim one-run lead before exploding for 15 runs in the third inning on its way to a 20-4 win in four innings over Presley.

Matt Orr had four hits, including a double, and Chase Darr hit a home run and a triple to lead Team of Faith.

Lexi Curry led Presley with a pair of doubles.

Bad Company 28, Wedgewing Family Restaurant 5 (4)

Bad Company wasted no time, scoring 19 runs in the first inning to remove any drama from a 28-5 win in four innings over Wedgewing.

Brooke Buskirk had four hits; and Jordan Burson, Josh Hall, Azzure Hall, Ben Metcalfe, Dustin McDowell, Sam Arcilla, Jessica Shaw and Shawn Maxwell all had three hits apiece to pace Bad Company. Burson and Josh Hall each hit a home run and a double, Maxwell hit a three-bagger and McDowell added a double.

Josh Verspoor had two doubles for Wedgewing.
