MVNU’s Gregoy, Knox earn CoSIDA honors

MOUNT VERNON – On Tuesday, May 25, Jevon Knox of the Mount Vernon Nazarene University men’s basketball team was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team, and Taylor Gregory of the women’s basketball team was named to the Second Team.

The CoSIDA Academic All-America program recognizes the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Knox, a three-time NAIA All-American, averaged 21.2 points per game last season on 50% shooting from the floor and 44.7% from three-point range. For his career, Knox compiled 2,163 points (fourth in program history), 530 rebounds, 355 assists and 88 steals.

Along with being an exceptional athlete on the court, the senior guard from Marysville, Ohio, was a standout student in the classroom. Knox, who majored in mechanical engineering, graduated MVNU with a 3.94 GPA.

Gregory, a two-time NAIA All-American, averaged 14.8 points per game, 9.8 rebounds (Crossroads League leader), and 1.9 blocks per game. Nationally, Gregory ranked sixth in total rebounds (273), eighth in defensive rebounds per game (8.2), 11th in total blocks (53) and 23rd in blocks per game. For her career, she racked up 1,772 points (second in program history), 1,185 rebounds (second in program history) and 229 blocks (first in program history).

Along with achieving success on the court, the senior from Mount Vernon was also a standout student in the classroom. Gregory, who majored in biology - pre-physical therapy, graduated MVNU with a 3.94 GPA.
