The Mount Vernon Girls Softball League got underway with its Opening Day on Saturday, May 1, at Memorial Park.
Many familiar faces were on hand, such as Jim Bonette, the MVGSL DJ, who has announced every player and coach’s name for the last 43 years.
Rylee Jarosz, a freshman at Mount Vernon High School, sang the National Anthem; and Mount Vernon Mayor Matt Starr threw out the ceremonial first pitch to Kate Merillat, who is playing her final season in the 16U division.
