Morris had two hits, scored three runs and drove in a run; Kaitlyn Tenzos drove in three runs on a pair of hits; and Brooklyn Pankuch had two hits and scored twice for the host Trojans. But it was Amelia Smith who did the most damage, crushing a three-run homer in the second inning.
Utica bounces back with LCL win over Vikings
Host Utica rallied for three runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good in an 8-6 win over Northridge to open Licking County League play on Monday, April 5.
Kiera Williams had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs; and Karleigh Lees tossed five innings to get the win, adding three hits, a run and an RBI at the plate to lead Utica (3-3, 1-0).
The win came on the heels of a walk-off 7-6 loss at West Muskingum in non-league play on Saturday, April 3, in Zanesville.

Pirates beat Freddies to open KMAC play
Riley Burchett hit a homer, a double and drove in five runs to lead Cardington to an 11-1, five-inning victory at Fredericktown in the KMAC opener for both teams on Monday, April 5.
Burchett clubbed a three-run homer in the second inning that staked the Pirates (4-0, 1-0) to a 6-1 lead.
The Freddies (2-3, 0-1) split a doubleheader at Crestview on Saturday, April 2.
In the first game, Lainey Partington had two hits — a triple and a double — and drove in three runs to lead Fredericktown to a 16-4 win in five innings. But the host Cougars took the second game 12-2 in six innings behind a 15-strikeout performance by Kylie Ringler.
Sophie Durbin capped a six-run third inning with a three-run homer to break the game open for Crestview.
Jackets pick up pair of wins at Dublin Coffman
Mount Vernon rallied in the seventh inning to knock off host Dublin Coffman, clinching the second of two wins in non-league play on Saturday, April 3.
Rae Straight broke a 3-3 tie with an RBI single with one out in the seventh. Alanta Spurgeon and Mikaylia Schlosser each added RBI singles of their own around Carlena Fiorilli’s fielder’s-choice RBI in the four-run outbreak to give the Yellow Jackets (5-1) the lead for good.
Brooke Radermacher homered earlier in the game, one of two big flies on the day.
Maddy Burdette also homered twice, but both of hers came in a 16-0 win in five innings over Westerville North in the opener.
Burdette went 4-for-4, drove in four runs and scored three; Schlosser went 3-for-3 with three runs and three RBIs; and Fiorilli added three hits, two runs and a pair of RBIs to lead the Jackets.
Scots rally to beat Bulldogs
Audrey Robinson hit an RBI double to open the floodgates on a five-run sixth inning to lead host Highland to an 11-6 victory over East Knox to open the KMAC slate on Monday, April 5, in Sparta.
Robinson went 4-for-4 with four runs and a pair of RBIs, and Emma West hit a two-run home run later in the inning to cap the rally for the Fighting Scots (4-0, 1-0).
East Knox’s Kayla Finch hit a two-run double in the fourth inning to tie the score in a back-and-forth battle.
Shanda Melick had three hits, including a triple, and scored twice; and Anjel Montgomery had two hits, three RBIs and two runs to pace the Bulldogs (0-5, 0-1).
East Knox was swept by Pleasant in a non-league doubleheader on Saturday, April 3, in Howard.
Hannah Miller hit a three-run homer as part of a five-run sixth inning that ended up being the difference in an 11-6 victory for Pleasant in the opener.
