URBANA – Nancy Caroll (Hankins) Thorpe, 82, of Urbana, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021, in Mercy Health Urbana Hospital. She was born on Aug. 19, 1938, in North Tazewell, Virginia, the daughter of the late John Y. and Frances M. (Spurgeon) Hankins.
Nancy was a member of the Urbana United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Sue Thorpe; sons, Rob Thorpe and Charlie (Tammy) Thorpe; grandchildren, Lyndsay (Tyler) Bumbalough, Shelby Thorpe and Zack Thorpe; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert A. Thorpe, and her sister, Barbara Thatcher.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Thursday, March 4, in the Vernon Funeral Home, Urbana; with Pastor Paul Jones and Pastor Jim Lillibridge officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 until noon prior to the service. Guests are respectfully asked to wear masks, and attendance will be monitored to ensure safety for everyone attending. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
